Building a shelter for Clyde

We received a challenge from Clyde, the Commonwealth Mascot to build a shelter which he can stand up in.  We only had a few materials to complete the task but we worked hard and built interesting constructions.
Which one would you like to stay in?

The Construction Thinking Key

Our challenge, last week, was to work in teams to design and build a long bridge.  We had one sheet of newspaper and ten straws to build our structure.  Everyone had different ideas but tried hard to create a group bridge.

Orienteering in the playground

Last week we worked outside to learn some skills in orienteering. We hope the weather will be kind to us soon and we can go to Muddisdale and the Peedie Sea to do some more activities.
We began this task by working with our friends to read a map and simple key.

We had to remember what piece of equipment we needed and run to collect it from the containers.

Then we went further up the playground and put the object in the correct place.

After a short while and a few challenging moments,  we had all made different clown faces.
Job well done!

Clyde the Commonwealth mascot visits class 2/3

We were very lucky to get a visit from Clyde the mascot last week.  Clyde is travelling all around Scotland to encourage people to support the Commonwealth Games.  We asked lots of questions about different things.  Clyde told us his favourite activity is weightlifting and he wears size 17 shoes, just like the number of sports in Glasgow 2014.
