Cool Stuff Challenge

We had a group challenge to make a piece of art with mirrors and craft materials.
First we talked about reflection and what it means.  Then we created our own masterpieces using sequins, beads, paper and plastic jewels.

We used 2 mirrors and then another to see if we could make our designs more interesting.

Enjoying session of Tag Rugby

We had our first session of tag rugby this week. We practised lots of skills including throwing and catching the ball properly.  It was great fun and we are all looking forward to next week.

Making Electrical Circuits

This week we worked with a partner to design a clown and then make
an electrical circuit so that his nose would glow.
We all succeeded in our challenge so there were lots of happy faces in the classroom!

Working as a team

We began the week with a group challenge.  Each team co-operated to build a lego model the same as Miss Falconer's.  We had ten seconds to take a peek and then tell our friends what we saw. .

The original model is on the left and the ones we made are on the right.
Which one looks most like Miss Falconer's?

Pick Up 3 Pieces

Last week we went to the Peedie Sea and spent some time collecting litter.  There was lots of plastic, sweetie wrappers and glass bottles.  We collected two big tubs from a small area and then took it back to the school.

We were  disappointed there was so much litter but everyone worked hard to make sure
the area is now clean and tidy.
When we returned to school we were full of ideas on how we can keep encouraging people to
 'Pick Up 3 Pieces'.

Getting active in the hall

This term we have been learning different skills involved in athletics.
We have been practising jumping, throwing and running.  This is us playing 'Clean the Playground' and throwing the javelin.

I wonder if we have any future Commonwealth participants?

Making electrical circuits

We began our topic 'Cool Stuff' by making simple electrical circuits.  We all predicted how we should use the equipment and worked together to make the light bulbs glow.

What is science?

At the beginning of the week we shared our knowledge about what we think science is.
There were lots of different and interesting suggestions.
One idea is that science should involve potions and experiments.
I wonder what types of tests we will do in our topic?
